The Work

Directed by Jairus McCleary, Gethin Aldous
89 min

Set inside a single room in Folsom Prison, three men from outside participate in a four-day group therapy retreat with level 4 convicts. The raw and revealing process that the incarcerated men undertake exceeds the expectations of the free men, ripping them out of their comfort zones and forcing them to see themselves and the prisoners in unexpected ways. This powerful and rare look past the cinder block walls, steel doors and the dehumanizing stigmas in our culture reveals a movement of change and redemption that transcends what we think of as rehabilitation.

”  THE WORK really left an impression on me.  Very inspiring. Watching these “hardened” criminals go through a profound catharsis and transformation was a powerful, moving experience.  Couldn’t have been a dry eye in the house.”
