The Lake Michigan Film Competition

The Lake Michigan Film Competition (LMFC) was designed to encourage, foster, and help promote filmmaking in the Lake Michigan region. It is part of every East Lansing Film Festival.

The LMFC gives awards to the filmmakers whose film was at least one quarter (1/4) filmed, produced, or financed in the states that border Lake Michigan — Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Wisconsin. Cash awards are given to the best film in each of the following categories: Feature, Long Documentary, Short Documentary, Short Film, Student Narrative, Student Documentary and Other Media. A special is award given by Message Makers to "The Most Promising Student Filmmaker" that includes a shooting and editing package worth over $7,000!

It's important to understand that entry into the LMFC is entry into the East Lansing Film Festival. It is a special opportunity for filmmakers in the Lake Michigan region to earn unique recognition.
